Art 13, 3D Concepts

 3D Concepts

"What the Twister Did." Fall, 2014.

This assignment was the invention of my friend and former professor, Elizabeth King, who assigned it many years ago, after reading a story of the same name in a 1984 issue of The New Yorker.

I tried out the assignment in my 3D Concepts class this semester.

Art 198, BFA Seminar, Fall 2013

In the BFA Seminar we did a project for Parking Day San Jose. Parking Day is an international phenomenon which aims to "take back the commons," turning parking spaces into mini parks. We brainstormed and came up with a plan, and the students formed teams for fabrication and documentation of the project.  Here is the fun video documentary the Art 198 students made:

The video makes me look like the worst bowler ever. In reality, when I picked up the cardboard bowling ball, I wasn't expecting it to be so sharp from the laser-cutting that it was like a giant paper cut waiting to happen. I dropped the ball instead of bowling it!
My favorite line in the video is, "I'm on Team Paint."
